Lunch Club

The aim of our lunch club is to promote healthy eating and enhance children’s independence and social skills; by encouraging them to sit at a table, chat and have fun with their friends and staff whilst eating their lunch. Two members of Staff will always oversee the children whilst they are sitting at the table and help them to develop good table manners and an understanding of healthy eating.

We do request that lunches MUST NOT contain any Nuts or Seeds as there are children in the setting with severe allergies. This includes houmous, pesto, seeded bread and any food containing nuts e.g. Snickers, cereal bars etc.

It is our responsibility as Early Educators to promote healthy eating at Harlington Village Pre School so we therefore also request that children DO NOT bring sandwiches/crackers containing chocolate spread.

Here are some examples of what some of the children bring in their pack lunches to give you some ideas:

Carbohydrate:

Pasta/Noodles with meat, cheese or prawns (remember to supply a cold pack in the warmer months to keep food fresh);

Cheese/Ham/Chicken/Turkey/Philadelphia - sandwiches/wraps/pitta; bread/bagel;

Crackers with cheese.

Fruit/Veg:

Portion of fruit – apple, banana, plum, peach, satsuma etc

Cut up fruit in a pot – raspberries, grapes (must be cut in half), strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, pineapple, melon

Vegetables – pot of peas, raw carrots, cherry tomatoes (must be cut in half) cucumber, pepper sticks, pot of sweetcorn.
